[26 September 2008]
Almost a year has passed since The Barnacle Guard Team visited Couran Cove Island Resort to high pressure clean all pylons at their Marina, after excessive marine growth on pylons caused a finger to become wedged above water level, causing it to snap.

While we were onsite in 07, we fitted our original Pylon Protectors to the Ferry Terminal's pylons. After one year, even without the feature of our underwater pylon protection (the chain attachment) the Pylon Protectors were still in great condition and operating effectively.

[15-17 September 2008]
The Barnacle Guard Team has travelled to North Sydney, to perform extensive pylon cleaning and fitting of the Barnacle Guard Pylon Protectors to NorthBridge Marina.

Being about 18 years old, the pylons had, on average, 4inches of attached oysters obstructing the rollers and in many places coming into contact with the floor boards surrounding the piles.

Our first interstate Marina complete, NorthBridge Marina is now protected! We would like to thank NorthBridge Marina for their business, and cooperation during installation.

The 2008 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show,
Barnacle Guard's first Official Australian Tradeshow, and what an event! Over the 4 day experience we received a great response from both show-goers and exibitors who had either seen our segment on The New Inventors weeks earlier, or were simply captured by our display. We also caught the attention of the Gold Coast Bulletin, several web publications, Boating and Industry Magazines and even the Nine Network's Paul Burt, who stopped and filmed a short feature on our product. The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show played an essential role increasing the consumer awareness of our product, See you there in 2009

A New Design for our Pylon Protectors
The Barnacle Guard team has been testing a variation of our Pylon Protectors for sometime now, passing the experimental phase just after filming for the New Inventors in early March, which is why the variant was not the model shown in the film segment.

So what's new? We've added a stainless steel attachment which works in exactly the same way as the foam insert, by constantly rubbing the pylon to keep it clean. The difference is! it works below the surface of the water, meaning not only is the pylon kept clean across the average tidal range, but approx 12" below the water's surface is also kept free of barnacle growth, giving the Pontoon and the Pylon Protector extra room to move in a lower tide. Another benefit of the design is the stainless steel is in constant contact with the plyon, irrespective of tide, making the new design less dependant on water motion. All Pylon Protectors sold will now feature this addition.

ABC's "The New Inventors" Program
Barnacle Guard's Creators Charlie and Rob Castro, recently appeared on the ABC's Award-Givinging Television Program, The New Inventors. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and thank the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and production team for their support.

The episode, which aired on Wednesday night [the 16th of April 2008] has caught the attention of many consumers, and potential distributors nationally. A brief segment from the show is now available on The New Inventors Website: http://www.abc.net.au/tv/newinventors. We would also like to thank all the viewers who voted for The Barnacle Guard Pylon Protector in the People's Choice Award.
